Our History
The land was origianlly purchased for a golf course in 1938, and developed as a 9 hole course in 1939. It was then extended to an 18 hole course in 1947.
The layout of the 18 hole course has changed several times as the land changed hands between the original owner, Francis Crowe, the Department of Civil Aviation and subsequent lessees.
The course has had a varied and colourful history . There have been proposals for both residential and industrial sub divisions. The course has been privately owned and publicly owned. There was - at one time - a plan for the Department of Civil Aviation to acquire the course for inclusion in the airport, and Bankstown Council even considered taking over the lease and running the course.
Finally the land was purchased by the State Government and leased by them to private companies, and this is how it has remained for the past 35 years or so.
